Seven things you might not know about Torgny

@AmiStar made me do it!

The Rules

  1. Link to your original tagger(s) and list these rules in your post.
  2. Share seven facts about yourself in the post.
  3. Tag seven people at the end of your post by leaving their names and the links to their blogs.
  4. Let them know they have been tagged.

Seven Things you probably did not know about me:

  1. The highest level of education I have finished would be the equivalent of a vocational High School in the field of printing. I am an autodidact in my field.
  2. I used to be a diehard gun nut and have shot everything from revolvers to fully automatic assault rifles.
  3. I know the importance of—and the completely insane genius of—Adelaide Crapsey.
  4. I believe in reincarnation and alternate realities.
  5. My first car, a Golden Eagle Jeep CJ-5, was paid for in cash, by me.
  6. I made the “Not Tested on Animals” logo used in a demo by the C64 hacker group Triad back in the 90’s.
  7. I am super competitive to the point of irritating the piss out of everybody involved. “Just for fun” means “fun for you until I destroy you” to me, or until I cry like a girl because I am being beaten by a girl.

This goes out to @shoosier, @blairblends, @pixelnated, @greatcorbinski, @bigfleet, @coffeejedi, and @la_ardillita.

Signed my life away with a 401k

So it’s official, I am now part of the thronging masses with a 401k. I figured now was as good a time to open one as ever. I could try to wait out the stock market plunge, although it seems hard to gauge the extent of the depression. Either way, my company offers some good matching and I need to get everything ready for 2040 or thereabouts when it is my turn to hand in the keyboard and get my gold watch or whatever the hell they will be handing out in 2040. After some investigation and comparisons I picked five funds that seem to be diverse enough and secure enough to weather some of the bad storms I am sure the world economy is fixing to throw my way.

Creating a new site layout

I am getting quite rusty in the design department. Unfortunately this is the best I can do, so I hope you will bear with my ugly web face. It’s been so long since I did anything in an Adobe product that I don’t even remember how to create slices in Fireworks. How sad is that?

Either way, hopefully this will be a place where I update more frequently than I have in the past few years. I used to be a very active blogger, with at least a post per day. We’ll see how that goes, though.

Switching hosts

I recently discovered what seems to be a great VPS hosting company: Slicehost. I transferred all my domains over there from 1&1 and we’ll see how it all turns out. Hopefully it’ll work better than what I’ve got now.

Blog up and running again

I finally got some semblance of a blog back on the Internet. This will serve as a place where I will collect my various thoughts and projects as well as a personal portal to my favorite communities and websites.
